Up north

At Noah’s birthday party up in NH on Sunday, Kate and my Uncle Gerry got to talking about me as a kid which led to Uncle Gerry hauling 4-5 photo albums over to my parents house the next morning so he could share some pictures.

Mom drag races the car, I hold the trophy, Dad fixes the car.

Kamber also came over in the morning to play with Noah for a little while.  I got lazy and just took photos from the recliner.

Last winter before my Grandfather died he ordered a ton of seeds for a garden he was going to plant.  Uncle Wayne, probably feeling pressure from above, planted the seeds this spring and what grew was a really impressive garden.  We stopped by to see if he had some leftovers.

From the cutting room floor, but too good to put in the trash.

Coney Island, part one

Chilling, Friends, Learning 1 Comment »

Every year Kate’s childhood friend Ryan gets people together to enjoy Coney Island and take in a Brooklyn Cyclones game.  It’s always a great time, and I always say we need to go to these games more often.  Tickets are like $13, and if you get there two hours before the game you can pay $5 for prime parking.  This year before the game we met up with a bunch of other Mineola alumn and their kids (and a nephew) for a walk around the aquarium.

NYC beaches – Overcast sky, lots of people with way too much gear, kites, shipping vessels, planes, seagulls, sailboats, sand, litter, trannies, unorganized dancing, dudes with snakes and/or birds and/or bandannas, shoot the (insert something stupid), fake palm trees spraying water…

…and fashion.

I really do like it though (Coney Island that is), I guess the country kid in my get’s a little overwhelmed.  Good thing we could ease into it by going to the aquarium (kids selling water, vending machine lines blocking the entrance, barely dressed woman(?) in her (it’s?) late 50’s wearing something crochet).

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about aquariums, especially after reading about The Cove, but you just have to let some stuff go.  Not to mention I thought I might sneak out a few good flicks.

First up, a show with sea lions.

Erika brought her 3 year old (British) nephew Joshua.  He judged our American dance music and choice of entertainment, all while wearing a Yankees cap.

Monday was a beach day.  Time to get some sun, time to explore that ocean.

Years ago we were in Avon for Mark and Sara’s Wedding.  The house they got married in is about 6 houses down the road.

The Park

Exercise, Learning, Psyched Comments Off on The Park

The sun was out yesterday, and I finished working on some things while there were still a few hours of daylight left so I met Kate and Noah at the park.
