Extravaganza!!!Fancy, Friends, Grandparents, Holidays, Psyched, Sappy, School, Theater 4 Comments »Noah’s day care put on a Holiday Extravaganza on Friday. I tried to walk the line between photographer trying to capture the event, and proud dad encouraging my 2 year old to do his best. I wasn’t alone. Ms. Carol, the boss. The 1 year old’s. Little drummer boys. These are the 2 year olds. Noah didn’t want to wear the hat (“it’s too big”). Not even during the weeks of practice his teacher said. The Sugarplum Fairies. Lil’ Dude forgot to get the bells under his chair. Spotted. Taking a bow. An interlude. Ryder! The oldest kids did a medley. This was part of the Kwanzaa dance. This was a Hanukkah “rap” I think. The kids and teachers did a really great job. It had to be pretty overwhelming for the kids to have an audience like that. After the show Nana and Opa had us over for dinner.

Noah is 2. Things are starting early for this kid. I don’t think I had my first school photo until I was 6. Kids these days. Photographers are always looking for something that really “makes” the photo. Something a little off, maybe a happy accident. Some dog poop, or gum on the bottom of a shoe. Either way, the foot of fresh snow out the fake window makes it for me. Amazing. Teachers left to right are Ms. Alva, Ms. Ella, Ms. Michelle, and Ms. Jackie (whose name got left off!). This one would cost extra. All aces. You can see more at http://photogifts.lifetouch.com. Noah’s portrait id is ZP3R-FRZT, and his access coad is – KRVX. (Why can’t they just make an easy link for me to add?)

Fort Greene Park Halloween FestivalChilling, Friends, Holidays, Partying, Theater Comments Off on Fort Greene Park Halloween FestivalThe other weekend we met up with Andy, Aransas, Savannah, Matt, Sabrina, Amelia, and Seamus for some craze going on at Fort Greene Park. On the way to the park we found a (disabled) firetruck. “Scary” graveyard setup… …and monsters everywhere. Seamus! (looking a little more tough than last time we hung out) Matt (in the red coat) and I held the cameras and purses while everyone else went on a horse ride. Fort Greene Dog Parade. This dog was “A tree growls in Brooklyn“… Here is a detail (in the style of Jon). Lunch. The crew (not really sure what Andy, in yellow, is drinking). As we left, there was a band playing and Noah started dancing and getting people psyched up. High-fives everywhere. Sleepy monsters.

Last week I volunteered to herd Noah and his schoolmates to Shadow Box Theater on Bleeker St. to see The Lumpy Bumpy Pumpkin. First off I have to thank Ms. Michelle and/or Ms. Ella for digging deep and finding a shirt for Noah that fit. The shirts they had on hand would have touched the floor on him… We took something like 18 kids, from two classrooms, on the subway. This has to be the worst place to sit… …or, maybe this woman (who wasn’t with our group) thought she had the worst place to sit. Even little kids think a dude with a camera is shady. This is the platform during our second transfer. Audrey. The other Noah in Lil’ Dudes class. You know this dude (the trombonist) played some kid tunes. Nice guy. Ms. Michelle came prepared. Mission accomplished.
